· This biennial national award carries a value of $9,000 and is administered by OAC.

QUOTES
The Heinz Unger Award jury’s unanimous decision recognizes Alain Trudel’s artistic vision and his demonstrated commitment to orchestral life and music in Canada. His work speaks to how music conductors should relate to and reach out to an orchestra’s community as well as an incredible ability to speak to an audience. He has been involved in unique artistic collaborations across the country including arts education programs that have engaged young people. The panel considered Trudel to be a future leader in the orchestral Canadian music community.

"I am deeply honoured to be the recipient of the Heinz Unger Award”, said Alain Trudel. “As conductors, our job is to communicate the gift of live music, to bring out the best in our colleagues, and to make every concert an exciting event, while respecting the wishes of the composer. It is very reassuring to know that there is an award in our country that recognises our work."
