Fondé en 2022 sous l’impulsion de Frances Heinsheimer Wainwright de la Coast Recital Society, le Trio Garibaldi réunit l’altiste Marina Thibeault, le clarinettiste Jose Franch-Ballester et le pianiste David Fung. Leur nom célèbre leur complicité musicale et leur attachement commun aux paysages de la Colombie-Britannique, particulièrement aux randonnées autour du mont Garibaldi.
Explorant un répertoire vaste, de la lignée classique amorcée par Mozart jusqu’à la création contemporaine, l’ensemble se distingue par son engagement envers l’innovation. Cette mission s’est concrétisée par des commandes d’œuvres auprès de compositeurs tels que Stephen Chatman et Dorothy Chang. Leur premier album, incluant ces créations ainsi que le premier enregistrement commercial du trio op. 128 de Lowell Liebermann, témoigne de leur volonté d’enrichir la littérature pour clarinette, alto et piano. Alliant virtuosité technique et profondeur expressive, le Trio Garibaldi s’impose comme une formation incontournable, portée par une synergie artistique qui continue de s’épanouir sur la scène internationale.
Founded in 2022 at the initiative of Frances Heinsheimer Wainwright of the Coast Recital Society, the Garibaldi Trio brings together violist Marina Thibeault, clarinetist Jose Franch-Ballester, and pianist David Fung. Their name celebrates their musical rapport and their shared attachment to the landscapes of British Columbia, particularly the hikes around Mount Garibaldi.
Exploring a vast repertoire, from the classical lineage initiated by Mozart to contemporary creation, the ensemble distinguishes itself by its commitment to innovation.
