Née au Québec, Linda Bouchard est active depuis plus de 40 ans en tant que compositrice, orchestratrice, chef d'orchestre, mentor et chercheure. Bouchard est Lauréate du Prix du compositeur de l'année du Conseil québécois de la culture (1998), du prix Joseph S. Stauffer du Conseil des arts du Canada (1999), du prix Davidson (2017) et de plusieurs prix SOCAN (1983,1984,1986). Ses honneurs aux États Unis comprennent des premiers prix du Princeton Composition Contest (1992), de l'Indiana State Competition (1986), National Association of Composers USA Competition (1981) et du Fromm Music Foundation Award de l'Université Harvard (2006).
Ses œuvres ont été enregistrées au Canada par les Label CBC, Analekta, Marquis Classics et CMC; en Allemagne par ECM et aux États-Unis par CRI et Bang on a Can.
En 1977, Bouchard se rend aux États-Unis pour étudier avec Henry Brant et vit à New York City de 1979 à 1990. En 1991, Bouchard revient à Montréal et gagne le poste de compositrice-en-résidence (1992-95) avec l'Orchestre du Centre national des Arts à Ottawa. En 1997, elle s'installe à San Francisco, Californie.
En 2018, grâce à une subvention du Conseil des arts du Canada, elle poursuit son projet Live Structures-Structures Vivantes.

In 1977, Bouchard went to the United States to study with Henry Brant and lived in New York City from 1979 to 1990. In 1991, Bouchard returned to Montreal and took up the post of composer-in-residence (1992-95) with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa. In 1997, she moved to San Francisco, California.
In 2018, thanks to a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts, she started and pursued her "Live Structures” project.
