Trumpeter Jacques Kuba Séguin is releasing the 3rd and last opus of his La trilogie des odeurs (The Trilogy of Fragrances). Each album has taken us on a journey. The first album, Parfum no 1, was for jazz quartet and featured vaporous textures. The second, Parfum no 2, for Big Band, explored powerful and evocative compositions through the powerful sound of the large ensemble. And now, Parfum no 3 is composed as a reflection of memories and life experiences. This album ends the trilogy beautifully with the wonderful collaboration of Alain Trudel and the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières."Inspired by the architecture of perfume and its evolution through top, heart, and base notes, I conceived a cycle of three distinct works for jazz quartet, large jazz ensemble, and symphony orchestra. Their musical and aesthetic universes are intentionally contrasted, forming three autonomous worlds that echo and intertwine in a shared exploration of perfume, memory, and the passage of time.”
